Can You Use Retinol With AHA?
Not in the same routine.
Retinoids accelerate cell turnover while AHAs dissolve the bonds holding dead cells together. Stacked in one session they strip the stratum corneum faster than it can rebuild, which is the classic route to a chemical burn, stinging, and peeling.
How to use Retinol and AHA
Alternate nights: retinol on Monday and Thursday, AHA on Tuesday and Friday. Never in the same session, even hours apart.
General guidance from common dermatological advice, not medical advice. If you use a prescription treatment, follow your prescriber’s instructions.
