Metic, as in meticulous about cosmetics

Metic Beauty
Community guidelines

Say what happened to your skin. That is the whole brief.

Short rules, enforced. These exist so the board stays worth reading rather than turning into a wall of affiliate links.

What belongs here

  • What you actually used. Your skin type, how long you used it, and what changed. “Six weeks, combination skin, no difference” is a useful post.
  • Questions about ingredients. Nobody is expected to already know what an ingredient does. Asking is the point of the questions board.
  • Disagreement. A product that worked for one person and broke another out is the most useful thread on any board.

What does not

  • Undisclosed promotion. If a brand gave you the product, paid you, or you earn from the link, say so in the post. This is not a house style preference — the FTC requires it, and it applies to you personally, not just to us.
  • Affiliate and referral links. Link to the product page, not through your tracking code.
  • Medical advice. Share what happened to you. Do not tell someone to stop a prescription, and do not diagnose anyone. Isotretinoin, prescription retinoids and steroid creams are between a person and their doctor.
  • Photographs that are not yours. Post your own photos. Brand and retailer images are their copyright, and we remove them.
  • Personal attacks, or anyone’s private information. Including your own — posts are public and indexed.
  • Counterfeits. No links to fakes, and no advice on sourcing them.

What happens when something is reported

Anyone signed in can report a post or a comment, and every report reaches a moderator. Reports carry the reporter’s username: an anonymous report button is a brigading tool, and we would rather a report cost something to send.

Removed content is replaced by a note saying a moderator removed it, rather than vanishing. A comment disappearing mid-thread makes the replies unreadable, and a silent deletion is indistinguishable from a bug. Repeatedly breaking these rules costs the account.

Your posts stay yours

You keep the copyright in everything you write and every photo you upload. Posting grants us a license to display it here and nothing more — we do not sell it, license it on, or use it in advertising. Delete a post and it stops being shown. The Terms of Use set this out in full.

Telling us about a problem

Report it if it is a post or comment. For anything else — a copyright complaint, a privacy concern, or a moderator decision you think is wrong — email admin@meticbeauty.com and a person will read it.
