Product details

A jar of Midnight Blue Calming Cream on an ivory table between chamomile flowers and a dot of pale blue cream

Calm + soothe

A sky-blue calming cream with chamomile-derived guaiazulene and centella, for skin that’s red, irritated or sun-stressed.

Klairs’ Midnight Blue cream gets its colour from guaiazulene, a soothing compound from chamomile oil that starts out a deep, almost purple blue and turns a cool light blue as the cream is mixed. Centella and ceramide back it up, in a gentle formula with oils chosen not to clog pores, suitable for sensitive and oily, acne-prone skin.

What’s inside

The ingredients doing the work

  • Guaiazulene

The star of the formula: a botanical compound from chamomile oil that calms redness and irritation, and gives the cream its blue colour.

No. 28 of 43 on the list

  • Centella asiatica

Sixth on the list. Korea’s go-to calming plant, here to help damaged, sensitive skin recover.

No. 6 of 43 on the list

  • Ceramide + hyaluronic acid

Ceramide reinforces the skin barrier, while hyaluronic acid keeps it hydrated.

No. 29, 30 of 43 on the list

  • Shea, argan + jojoba

Select oils that leave skin supple and moisturized without clogging pores, per Klairs.

    No. 9, 10, 11 of 43 on the list

Supporting botanicals

  • Purslane
  • Roman chamomile
  • Broccoli
  • White mulberry root

How to use

The last step of your routine

  1. 1

    Finish your routine

Use it as the final step, after your toner and serums.

  2. 2

    Scoop

Take a small amount of the pale blue cream from the jar.

  3. 3

    Target

Apply it to areas that feel sensitive or irritated, or over the whole face.

  4. 4

    Tap in

Gently tap it in until it absorbs. On dehydrated, oily skin, Klairs suggests layering it over a moisturizer.

Cool, calm and comfortable

Keep it close for the days skin runs hot and red: after a day outdoors, a shave or a new treatment.

Good to know

  • Klairs recommends it after irritating treatments or procedures, after long hours in the sun, and after shaving or extractions.
  • No fragrance or essential oils on the ingredient list; the chamomile is an extract.
  • The blue colour comes from guaiazulene, not from added dye.
  • This is the 30 mL jar; the same cream is also sold in tubes.
